This giclee print based on an original oil painting, explores ideas of memory and imagination and in particular, the experience of my children growing up and leaving home. Past memories flow towards us beneath the arch of the bridge and at the same time we can choose to visit them ourselves via Butterfly Bridge itself. Can this enable us to look to the future with greater resolve and optimism? I hope that my viewers will gain some of the positive feelings that I have explored with this particular juxtaposition of images and painterliness. The painting is completed using very detailed acrylic brushwork which encourages the viewer to get up close and have an intimate experience of the work.
